Throughout the House
- Turn on every light and open all blinds and curtains - light is everything
- Replace any burned-out bulbs and match bulb color temperature where possible
- Declutter surfaces: counters, nightstands, shelves, and tables
- Hide cords, remotes, tissue boxes, and trash cans
- Remove personal photos and valuables
- Make all beds with smooth, matching bedding
Kitchen & Baths
- Clear countertops of small appliances, dish racks, and magnets on the fridge
- Put away dish soap, sponges, and towels - or stage one clean matching set
- Close toilet lids; hang fresh, matching towels
- Remove floor mats and shower products from sight
Exterior & Curb Appeal
- Move cars out of the driveway and away from the front of the house
- Mow, edge, and clear leaves or snow from walkways
- Hide garbage cans, hoses, and garden tools
- Open patio umbrellas and arrange outdoor furniture
- For twilight shoots: verify every exterior and landscape light works
Day of the Shoot
- Plan for 1-2 hours depending on size and services
- Keep pets and people out of frame; secure pets in a garage or off-site
- Do a final walkthrough 15 minutes before the photographer arrives
